The Guthrie Center, Iowa, community is grieving the loss of 15-year-old Alli Wiers, who died on October 28, 2026, from injuries sustained in a serious crash in Greene County. Her passing came 11 days after the October 17 collision, which left her and another Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center student critically injured. News of her death has brought sadness to classmates, school staff, friends, and the wider community.

Alli was a student at Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School. Her name became widely known after the crash, when school officials confirmed that she was among the two teenagers seriously injured. The school community responded with concern and support, recognising the emotional difficulty of such an incident for students, teachers, and families.

The collision occurred at approximately 12:58 p.m. on October 17 at the intersection of J Avenue and 290th Street, about six miles north of Bagley. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the pickup truck carrying Alli and 16-year-old Gavin Pederson entered the intersection without stopping at a posted stop sign and collided with a semitruck. Both teenagers were airlifted to hospitals in Des Moines.

In the days following the accident, members of the community gathered for a prayer vigil at the AC/GC High School football field. The gathering offered an opportunity for people to stand together, remember the injured students, and support their families. Alli’s death has made that period of concern especially painful for those who had been hoping for her recovery.

Alli Wiers’s passing is a heartbreaking loss for her family, friends, classmates, and everyone touched by her life. At just 15 years old, she had so much of life ahead of her, making her death especially difficult to comprehend. May her loved ones find comfort in their memories, strength in the care of their community, and support as they navigate this painful time.
